Today Microsoft and Publicis confirmed the rumors that Microsoft would sell its digital agency Razorfish to Publicis. This is great news for Razorfish as it will provide them access to services and capabilities they do not currently have to further solidify their leadership position in the industry. Details of the announcement can be found in the press release put out this morning.
Razorfish will be part of VivaKi, the operating unit of Publicis Groupe that offers digital services, media and technology - 3 core strengths of Razorfish. This addition of Razorfish will make VivaKi a leading player in the digital landscape. Publicis has stated they would like 25% of their revenue in 2010 to come from digital and with Razorfish and Digitas in the VivaKi portfolio this appears to be an achievable goal.
Publicis Groupe provides Razorfish a long-term home with one of the world’s leading advertising agency holding companies. The new home and services will complement Razorfish’s current leading digital offering with that of global offline advertising and creative services.
